Victorian Essential Learning Standards

Reports to Parents and Students

Parents and students receive reports of progress in a variety of ways. Student portfolios form a major component of the home-school communication system. Portfolios are sent to parents regularly and will contain samples of assessed work addressing specific learning outcomes.

Student reports, including comments on achievement in relation to the Victorian Essential Learning Standards on a five-point scale of A to E, are issued in June and December. Students achieve the standards by successfully completing a wide range of learning and assessment tasks. The assessments include such tasks as recording, performing, creating and responding to a range of tasks and tests. Teachers are available for consultations throughout the year and meetings are organised in June to discuss half-year progress. Students with special learning needs have individual learning plans and frequent contact with teachers is encouraged.
