Facilities

Classrooms

Mount View Primary School has finely appointed classrooms in which teachers create a vibrant learning environment. All rooms are carpeted and furnished with modern tables and seating. All rooms are well heated and an air-conditioning program will soon be completed. Computers and other necessary learning equipment are located in or near rooms. Teachers ensure that students' work is constantly on display to encourage their engagement. Each group of students develops ownership of its classroom through the establishment of classroom rules and procedures and the sharing of responsibilities.

Library

There are over 14,000 book titles available for children to borrow from the Library.

A large range of professional books, pictures and charts, videos and kits is available for teachers.

All children visit the Library weekly in their scheduled Library session, and the Library is also open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 1:25 pm to 1:40 pm (unless it is a wet day, then the library is not open at all).

For borrowing, children have a named Library bag, (preferably plastic lined as drink bottles sometimes leak!), so they can borrow and keep their books clean and safe. Children may borrow the following at any one time:

Loans are for 14 days. Extensions are available. Books can be returned at any time by placing them in the Returns Tub on the front desk.

Students from Prep onwards are trained to use the latest software that will help them to learn in all curriculum areas. Computers are used to extend students' skills and to enhance the general classroom programs. In addition to software applicable to subject areas, students become familiar with word processors, databases, spreadsheets, touch typing, web design, presentations and e-mail.

Parents are requested to co-jointly sign an agreement to use the School's computers for Internet learning. With this mutual agreement, and close supervision by teachers, students can use the latest technology in a safe and secure environment.
