Principal's Message

Mount View Primary School is a friendly, energetic and highly motivated community that enjoys the reputation of being one of the most respected and admired primary schools in Victoria. The school provides an education where the students strive to achieve their personal best in all learning domains : cognitively, physically, spiritually, socially and emotionally.

Education has traditionally been about acquiring knowledge. It used to be enough to teach children how to read, write and  understand mathematical concepts. While our curriculum certainly focuses on literacy and numeracy, it expands much further to include a rich and varied choice of subjects such as humanities, science, technology, performing and visual arts, physical education and additional languages.

The environment and programs in our school are inspired by and reflect the schoo'ls commitment to the Victorian Essential Learning Standards, as well as the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate. We believe that learning opportunities are enhanced by the application of local, national and international frameworks and we have a  holistic approach to education. Mount View Primary School embraces the concept of our children being responsible citizens who are shaped by, and can shape, the world in which they live.

The greatest focus at the school is on the people that form this richly diverse community. The relationships that are formed with members of our community are critical for a genuine and authentic education to flourish. At Mount View Primary School two key ingredients form the keystones in which all relationships are developed, nurtured and valued. They are the characteristics of respect and trust.

There is always a special bond that is developed between teacher and child.  Often this will be remembered years later as the student recalls the words and deeds of a teacher that have had a long and lasting impact on him or her. In this way teachers hold a very privileged position, one that comes with great responsibility. Our staff, both teaching and non-teaching, are aware of this and commit themselves to providing the best education for all the students in our care. We are indeed fortunate to have such a dedicated and skilled staff at Mount View Primary School.

I trust that this website will provide you with a sense of the dynamic and caring environment that exists at our school and encourage you to contact us if you have any questions.

Once again, it is an absolute privilege to be the principal of this wonderful school and I look forward to working with all the community members in continuing and further developing the traditions and reputation of Mount View Primary School.
